From the green hillsides of the Shimla hills we journey into the Sutlej valley and on to the fertile valley of Sangla in Kinnaur. From here the landscape drastically changes in dimension and appearance. We enter a hi-altitude desert terrain a lunar landscape full of stark barren hills and craggy mountains giving out an amazing range of colours and hues. Our final destination is Ladakh and on the last laps of the safari you are treated to some of the most fantastic rock forms and -sculpted by erosion - granite hills in the Himalayas. Crossing the 45 Kilometre long More Plain gives you glimpses of the rich fauna of the southern Tibetan plateau home to the Tibetan antelope, the wild ass, marmots, picas, the predatory wolf and fox besides the elusive snow leopard and in the skies, the lazily gliding Lammergeier.

Our journey takes us across the entire middle Himalayan belt in Himachal Pradesh. From the lush green Shimla hills through the sub tropical Rampur valley and the fruit growing Kinnaur valley. The terrain takes on an awesome appearance as we enter the cold deserts of Spiti where ancient monasteries and oasis like villages appear like welcome breaks in this bleak landscape. Once across the 13,050 ft high Rohtang Pass the landscape changes again to green valleys, thickly wooded hills , glistening streams and abundant apple orchards. We have a 2 day break in Manali where our offices are located before heading south and east towards the verdant Kangra valley with undulating tea gardens and the gigantic rock wall of the Dhauladhar mountain range as a backdrop. taking in the small hill resorts of Dharamshala, Macleodgunj where the Tibetan Government in exile is located, the tranquil beauty of Dalhousie we return to the plains.

The Highest Jeep Safari in the World : 8 Days
The Manali-Leh road is open only for 2-3 months, between July and September, every year before the snows cover it up or wash away the road. This overland route had become an increasingly popular way to go to Leh. The advantage of the road route is that one sees an amazing panorama of nature 's beauty and also gets gradually acclimatized to breathing in the high altitude atmosphere, which is a pre-requisite to staying at Leh. An unforgettable experience as the road traverses a variety of landscapes and one can hardly put the camera away. Along the way nature impresses with awesome mountain passes of 17-18,000 ft., long stretches of flat, cold desert without a trace of vegetation, amazing natural rock formations and deep gorges of the rivers Beas, Chandra, Bhaga and finally Indus. From the Snowclad Mountains , when the snows melt, one sees beautiful waterfalls and gurgling crystal clear mountain streams.
