Trekking in Kashmir Valley, India Beautiful Kashmir valley also called “Paradise on Earth” is surrounded by two Himalayan Ranges – Great Himalayan Range in the north and Pir Panjal range in the south. Both the ranges offer many trekking routes for trekkers. The trek to Amarnath ji is very famous among Hindu pilgrims as well as in trekkers and every year thousands flock to the shrine, where the image of Shiva in the form of lingam is formed naturally of an Ice and by its sides tow more fascinating ice Lingams of Parvati & Ganesha. This cave was discovered by one Muslim shepherd Buta Malik according to ancient tales whose descendants still gets the percentage of the donations made by the pilgrims. Amar Nathji Yatra Duration : 07 Nights / 08 Days Places Covered : Srinagar - Pahalgam - Chandanwari - Sheshnag - Panchtarni - Amarnath - Sheshnag - Pahalgam - Srinagar Day 01 : Srinagar – Pahalgam On Srinagar arrival pickup and drive to Pahalgam. Pahalgam is a base for many trekking routes. Reach Pahalgam in 10-11 hrs drive covering a distance of about 320 kms and check into the hotel for overnight. Day 02 : Pahalgam – Chandanwari (4 -5 hrs, 16 kms, 2896 Mts) In the morning leave Pahalgam, the valley of Shepherds for Chandanwari. Arrive Chandanwari a small shut off valley at the junction of Sheshnag stream and the stream for Astanmarg in 4-5 hrs. Dinner and overnight at tent camp. Day 03 : Chandanwari – Sheshnag (4-5 hrs, 13 kms, 3576 Mts) In the early morning start your trek for Sheshnag. The trial climbs the Pisu Ghati and then climbs gradually to the Sheshnag Lake. Sheshnag, 13 kms from Chandanwari is one of the windiest places in this valley and it takes apprx 5 hrs to cover this distance. Dinner and overnight in tented camps at Sheshnag. Day 04 : Sheshnag – Panchtarni (5 hrs, 13 kms, 3657 Mts) Today start early to cover the 13 kms trek from Sheshnag to Panchtarani (3657 Mts.) and it take about 5 hrs. The walk is through Mahagunas Pass (3200 Mts.) and then a gradual walk to Panchtarani. Dinner and overnight stay in tented camps in Panchtarni. Day 05 : Panchtarni - Amarnath – Sheshnag (18 Kms, 8 – 9 hrs, 3888 Mts) In the early morning start the trek from Panchtarani to Amarnath cave. Amarnath is only 6 kms away from Panctarani and on arrival have a dip in the ice cold water of Amarnath stream, which flows outside the cave. Inside the cave there is three massive Ice Lingama’s of Lord Shiva, Parvathi and Ganesh. After the darshan trek back towards Sheshnag. It is a descending walk till Sheshnag. Reach in the late afternoon and check into the tented camp for overnight stay. Day 06 : Sheshnag - Pahalgam - Srinagar Today trek down to Pahalgam via Chandanwari. On Pahalgam arrival board your wating vehicle and drive to Srinagar. On Srinagar arrival check into your Houseboats for dinner and overnight. Day 07 : Srinagar Sightseeing Today morning leave on sightseeing tour of Srinagar visiting Nishat Bagh (Abode of pleasure) built by Asif Khan brother in law of Jehangir in 1632 AD. and Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love) built by Jehangir for his wife Empress Noor Jehan. All the gardens are situated on the bank of Dal Lake with the Zabarwan Mountains in the background. Also visit carpet-weaving factory and enjoy Shikara ride on Dal Lake visiting floating and vegetable gardens etc. Meals and overnight stay in luxury Houseboats. Day 08 : Srinagar – Delhi/ return flight In the morning after breakfast transferred to the airport to connect your return flight for Delhi or other Indian or foreign destinations. [Submit Query ]
